The CEO of Nissan Automotive, Carlos Ghosn, said that his company is developing the next generation of lighter and smaller car batteries. Although Nissan has fallen behind in production of hybrid vehicles compared to Toyota and Honda, they recently opened a new tech center in Japan that is dedicated to developing environmental friendly automobiles. What's Up With This Ford Ad?

Ford started a new ad campaign in India recently. Look at the picture above. It is part of that campaign. It shows an SUV on thin ice. What caused that thin ice? All the SUV's and their pollution! The ad also shows polar bears that, due to melting ice, could soon be misplaced. Just another reason why we need electric cars, to save the polar bears. Click the link below for more pictures.

Live Earth Day This Sunday In Los Angeles (UPDATED)

UPDATE AS OF 6/24/2007- I took a trip into Westwood only to be disappointed. It is NOTHING like it was last year and now I see why. Last year the movie Who Killed The Electric Car? premiered at the LA Film Festival so there were more booths. Sorry for an inconvenience.

In Los Angeles this Sunday? Then stop by the Los Angeles Film Festival's Live Earth Day! Short films will be shown and environmental groups will be there.
If it's anything like it was last year, then you can be sure to find many interesting exhibits. It takes place this Sunday (June 24) during 12-6 in Westwood. Click the link below for more info.

The newly announced sedan will be able to go 100 miles per charge and cost about $30,000. There aren't many details yet, but Zap! says it should come out before the end of 2008.

Car Profile - (Concept) Chevrolet Volt

The Chevy Volt is a concept car. General Motors announced it in January 2007 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. If built, which hopefully it will be, it will have standard safety features such as airbags and stability control. One thing unique to it is that it can run on pure electricity. Here are some specs:
  • The lithium-ion battery can be recharged in a standard 110 volt outlet.
  • The battery can go 40 miles on sole electricity
  • With the range extender, you can use gasoline, E85, or biodiesel to recharge the battery as needed giving you a 150 m.p.g. equivalent
  • For long trips, you will be able to get a 50 m.p.g equivalent
For the detailed specifications, click here to visit the official Volt website.
